Inspiring stories from earlier Estonian church-plants

Re-plant in Ruusmäe 1993

Kaupo Kant was sent as local pastor to the Ruusmäe United Methodist Church in 1993. During 40 years the church had met in the former pastor´s home. This now became a re-start of a church that had been coming together in homes for a long time, after it had been prohibited to gather in 1940 and the church-building had been destroyed in 1967.

After pastor Kaupo's arrival, the congregation started to rent rooms in the village centre office building. This was in February 1994. It meant a big leap into the core of the society, a change of style and way of being. It could be called a re-start of an existing church.

Today pastor Enno Sarik with his wife Leelo Sarik lead the work.

Viitka

Kaupo Kant continues to share:

- In 1998 during a United Methodist Church regular summer-mission, a big group of children were touched in Viitka (35 km from Võru). The Võru church (also a church plant) made a commitment to arrange children's ministry and fellowship twice a month on Saturdays. In year 2000, during an evangelistic meeting in a garage, the Holy Spirit fell and almost all 60 people that were there were prayed for. Some got saved, some got renewed and some filled with Holy Spirit. It was decided that it now was needed to establish a new church.

- In August 2000 Viitka UMC was established. After that, Kaupo tells, I have not had an active role in this church, but I am networking with the pastor, Tea Land, and we do often common projects there as colleagues. The church has own facilities and activities today.
