New preaching points
New Preaching point in Paceriaukštė.
A little more than one year ago the Lithuanian Pagalbos Centras purchased a small house in this village. The intent was to provide a place in the community for feeding children after school, a wash program, and emergency shelter for women and children in domestic violence situations. Last spring Pastor Walla Carllson began holding worship services at the house one Sunday afternoon each month. Now others share in leading this worship. Persons from this village and surrounding villages are now coming for “spiritual” food. Normally 25 attend, sometimes as many as 50.
New preaching-point in Sveicarija
A new preaching-point (in practise a group for Bible-study and prayer) was started in April, 2009 in Sveicarija. Pastor Remigijus and the group share about their work:
- Our group consists of 2 members (a family that lives in Sveicarija). In addition, one more family attends our Bible-studies. The group also has a supporting team with people from the UMC church in Kaunas. These people regularely attend the meetings in Sveicarija to help. The goal of the Kaunas team is to support and encourage the core-group in Sveicarija. The team will remain as a support for three years or as long as it is needed. Next year we are planning to have a seminar with leadership training
for the new Sveicarija core and supporting team.
Mission, vision and values
- For us in Sveicarija "church" means "the gathering of the faithful who believe in Jesus Christ and who serve Him". Our mission is to share the Gospel as well as to serve the community in Sveicarija with three dimensions: the Word, prayer and diaconal ministry, as we share bread with the poor. We do not try to reach any particular group of people, but desire to minister to anyone who wishes to grow in God’s Grace. We are a one-language and a one-culture church.
- Our vision is to have (to organize) a congregation of faithful Christians (or a church if it be God’s plan), with worship service, Bible-studies and different ministries. Otherwise to continue to have Bible-studies and prayer as a group in Sveicarija. Our desire is that every one would live by faith based on the Word of God.
Where does pastor Remigijus get his energy from?
- For me, as a leading minister, it is first of all my prayer-life and dedication to God’s service and his will that fuel me. Working together with the people of Sveicarija, inspiring them and being inspired, as they share they spiritual life
and how God is working in them, also blesses me a lot.
