Track 4 – YMCA

In a more secular population, the Methodist Church is facing difficulties to attract the younger generation. At the same time, congregations are ageing which could mean a generational gap inside the church. How does this affect the future of the Methodist Church? Are the youth ready to take leadership and create new ministries? What elements are essential to a relevant and engaging church in the future? These difficult questions – and many others – will be the focus for this track.

The Nordic and Baltic episcopal area covers 7 countries Denmark,Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. We speak 9 official languages and use English as a common language.

Bishop Christian Alsted gives oversight to pastors, deacons, local churches, schools, hospitals, seminaries and diaconal institutions in the area.

United Methodists hold to the historic doctrines of the Christian faith. We value the intellect and modern science, at the same time we see the Bible as the authoritative guide for faith and practice. Methodists recognize that the world is not always black and white. We are willing to ask questions and to wrestle with difficult issues, and we do so with grace and compassion.

April 24 wrap-up: Legislative committee work begins

The second day of General Conference shifted from the celebratory opening worship to doing the business of the church, as delegates began working in their legislative committees and electing their chairs.
