In 2014 Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine. A few churches from the Ukraine and Moldova provisional annual conference were transferred to the South Russia Provisional Annual Conference in 2016. However the transfers were not approved by the Ukraine Moldova Provisional annual conference, which requested to be transferred from the Eurasia episcopal area to another episcopal area. After Russia’s full scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, an extra session of the central conference decided to change the borders of the episcopal areas and include Ukraine and Moldova in the Northern Europe and Ukraine Regional Conference. Despite the war, the church in Ukraine is caring for internally displaced and continues to develop and expand its ministry.
