Europe – Connections and Contact
We have longstanding and warm relations with Methodist, Wesleyan, and Uniting Churches across the European continent.
The European Methodist Council gives Methodist, Wesleyan, and Uniting Churches a shared voice in a changing European landscape. We work together to greater understand shared challenges and support each other so that we can all be more effective in God's mission.
The member churches are located across all of Europe and beyond - from Ireland to Russia, and Sweden to North Africa. The European Methodist Council welcomes members from churches who have links with Methodism, including European Methodist churches, churches who have Methodist heritage, churches that have inherited the Wesleyan tradition and Methodist churches from outside Europe who have a significant presence in Europe
The European Methodist Council brings together Methodist leaders from across Europe. The Council meets formally twice a year, once online and once in person. Meetings include time for prayer and reflection, learning and discussion on issues related to church and mission in Europe.
EMC members collaborate on issues facing church and society in Europe. For example, at our meeting in 2019 member churches adopted the EMC Pledges on Climate Change, committing to be active in our own churches and countries with respect to climate change.
