ELECTION OF NEW BISHOP IN THE NORTHERN EUROPE AND EURASIA CENTRAL CONFERENCE
During the Northern Europe and Eurasia Central Conference 2-6. April 2025 in Copenhagen there will be episcopal election.
The nomination process will begin on 17th May 2024, and it will be open throughout the process until a new bishop is elected.
Bishop Christian Alsted will end his term as bishop, and the new bishop will assume office on 25th May 2025.
As the four annual conferences in the Eurasia Episcopal Area are leaving the United Methodist Church to become an autonomous Methodist Church, there will be no election for the Eurasia area.
The Committee on Episcopacy has developed an information package containing information on the nomination and election of a new bishop, a description of the current tasks and challenges of the new bishop, the responsibilities of the bishop as described in the Book of Discipline and the form to be used for the presentation of nominees. The information package can be accessed following this link.
We invite members and clergy to read this material and to pray with us that The Holy Spirit will guide the Church, through your wisdom, to find the right leader for the coming years.
If you have any questions, please contact the Chair of the Committee on Episcopacy Per-Endre Bjørnevik, per-endre.bjornevik@lyse.net Phone: +47 916 24 645.
Nominations must be sent to the office of the Central Conference office@umc-ne.org
