Meet the Bishop

My name is Christian Alsted I was born in 1961 and married to Elisabeth Flinck since june 1984. We have three grown-up children Sara, Mathias and Caroline.

Elisabeth is a member of the management team at Orestadsskolen - a brand new school with a virtual esthetic profile. Her main thing is creative school development, crafts (not least sewing), reading, running and gardening.

I have been a pastor in the United Methodist Church since 1984, of which 20 years were in Copenhagen. Apart from being a bishop, which I enjoy immensely, I enjoy playing guitar, singing gospel music, listening to music, reading, working out and playing squash.

I was elected to the episcopacy in February 2009 and assumed office 1st May 2009. I serve the 7 conferences in the Nordic and Baltic Episcopal area of the Northern Europe and Eurasia Central Conference.

I serve as the chair of the Board of Trustees of the Baltic Theological Seminary, the chair of the European Methodist Council, the World Methodist Council, and the Funds for Mission in Europe. I served on the board of directors of the United Methodist Publishing House (2009-2012) and on the Study Committee on The World Wide Nature of the Church (2009-2012). I currently chair the Connectional Table.
