In Remembrance of Bishop Sundo Kim

With sadness we have received the news of the death of Bishop Sundo Kim (1930-2022), the former Senior Pastor of Kwanglim Methodist Church (the largest Methodist Church in the world with more than 95.000 members), Chairperson of World Methodist Council, President Bishop of the Korean Methodist Church and an inspiring leader of our generation to many; a man who combined scholarship with humility, intelligence with grace and Biblical insight with pastoral heart.

Bishop Kim passed away on 25th November 2022 at 12.03 am due to old age.

During his long servant ministry, bishop Sundo Kim became a world leader and role model in world methodism. Based on his commitment to biblical scholarship, mission and prayer, bishop Sundo Kim and the Kwang Lim Methodist Church became instrumental in the building of the Baltic Mission Center in Tallinn, Estonia and the creation of the Baltic Methodist Theological Seminary of which he was a committed supporter. Especially in Estonia bishop Sundo Kim will forever remain in our memory as a great supporter and inspiring benefactor of the mission of the United Methodist Church in Estonia.

We give thanks to God for the life and witness of bishop Sundo Kim, may he rest in peace and rise in glory.
